Happy Birthday MacKenzie!
Happy 9th Birthday my beautiful MacKenzie. May you continue to grow in God's grace and mercy. Nine years ago, you taught me what it meant to be a mother. I love you. I hope you continue to march to the beat of your own drummer and always follow your heart.

Almost two weeks...
We're one day shy of living in Pennsylvania for two weeks now. We can still be found at the Country Inn & Suites. The kids love having constant pool access. What a treat to swim daily while you look out the windows to see snow drifting! In fact, Sydney is becoming quite proficient with her swimming. The kids will definitely be ready for summer with all that practice.
We have lots of feelers out to find a house but nothing just yet... There's a house on the "back burner," but we want to explore all our options before we commit. Hopefully this week will bring something new for us to consider.
This morning we ventured out for a great breakfast at a local farmstand restaurant (http://http//www.ardsmarket.com/). We saw our first horse & buggy on the way. In fact, as we left, we ventured upon an auction, on the opposite side of the road as our restaurant, where a whole group of buggies were parked. On our venture to check out the auction, we seemed to have driven in the wrong drive, and David had to maneuver our big ol' bus through the Amish men, women, and children to get to the proper parking area. They seemed quite amused at our ineptitude as they pointed at our Massachusetts license plates. We opted out of parking in the muddy field and drove off instead. Maybe we'll go back, the right way, when the fields are dryer, to check things out...

Valentines Sale
What makes me smile?
A quick trip to the drug store today landed me this loot. I discovered these cherry kisses last February and fell in love. Today I scored four bags for $3.00! I love post holiday discounts.
Yesterday, the two little ones and I looked at a few rent houses. We saw one we liked only to discover that someone put a contract on it as we were viewing it. Oh well! Today is a new day. There's a roast with new potatoes and carrots in the big crock pot and a new mac and cheese recipe in the smaller crock pot. I have yeast rolls rising and am anticipating a nice family meal, that hopefully we can soon recreate in our new home. Until then we'll rock the suite life.

Pennsylvania
A lot has transpired since I last updated this blog... Mainly, we've moved! David received a promotion, that has moved us to Central Pennsylvania. We traveled to PA in January on a whirlwind house-hunting trip but didn't settle on a home. So here we are, residing in a hotel suite while we search for a place to live. We left MA Sunday, 2/14, so we've been here for almost a week now. Since then, David has started his new job, Jacob & MacKenzie have started attending their new school, and Sydney has been scheduled for a tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, and a new set of tubes in her ears.
Life in a hotel, with four children, is not a cake walk. We eat out every other day and I cook in our room the opposite days. We were thoughtful to bring along a couple of crock pots and a toaster oven to facilitate these meals. So far it's working out, but we hope to find a home soon. The kids' favorite part of hotel living is daily accessibility to an indoor pool. My favorite part is having someone else wash the towels, clean the floors, and empty the trash cans.

Columbus Day Weekend 2009
So we're going to pretend that I didn't post snow pics this morning - LOL! Back to our beautiful New England autumn:
We spent Columbus Day camping in the lakes region, Lakes Winnepesauke & Squam area, of New Hampshire. The original plan was to drive five hours north to Moosehead Lake, Maine, but the weather was going to be rainy and in the 20's so we shifted our trip to a rain-free area - LOL! It was still chilly, 30's at night, but the fall foliage was worth the chill. Our goal was, and seems to always be, to find the darn elusive moose, but we didn't see any...
We stayed at a nice campground in Moultonboro, NH (http://www.ucampnh.com/longislandbridge/). It was a short trip, because we waited for the rain to move out before we left Saturday and came home before the predicted snow showers on Monday. Saturday evening we enjoyed a beautiful sunset on the lake as we drank our coffee and hot cocoa. Supper consisted of homemade tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches that we enjoyed by the campfire as we listened to the call of the loon. Everyone enjoyed s'mores as I cleaned up our dishes and David packed our food stuffs back in the Suburban to avoid hungry critters that visit at night. I must say, we turned in pretty early Saturday, which made the night seem to go on forever. David and I were both checking the time to see if it was morning yet in between cat naps and listening to the sound of little feet scurrying around outside our tent.
Sunday morning was greeted with more hot coffee and cocoa and a new fire built with twigs and limbs collected by the children from the floor of the campground. We ate a hearty breakfast of french toast and bacon before we broke camp and headed off for the day. The kids seemed to enjoy washing dishes at the campsite and "raking" pine needles with sticks. They found a tree with a low substantial limb and turned it into a see-saw of sorts.
We traveled north a bit, around Squam Lake, where "On Golden Pond" was filmed, and then meandered our way back down south towards Massachusetts. The "locals" in the area were packing up to move south as well for the winter season. We were lucky to pass a seasonal roadside burger stand that was having a buy one get one free special so we lunched there. Hot dogs, hamburgers, and onion rings for six all for only thirteen dollars and some change. What a deal!
It was a whirlwind of a trip but a lot of fun. We must have brought the chilly weather home with us, because we had to breakdown and turn on the heat when we got home. Oh well!
